Hume and Langmead make steady progress

Rich Hume and Tom Barnes on Red ArrowUpdates on the two OCs currently rowing across the Atlantic ... the positions of all boats can be found here.

Rich Hume (2 North, 2000) reported earlier today:-

"Yesterday afternoon/evening was definitely the worst/toughest conditions we’ve faced. Monster waves (some must be at least >30ft) smashing into Red Arrow soaking everything on deck, strong winds that were blowing across the waves made it even harder to hold our heading. Very challenging.

"Life on board is fine. Everything is damp as it’s so hot but too rough to have any windows open etc, a bit of a catch 22 if you ask me. The weather is due to change on Wednesday for the worse, I just hope we get to air the cabin before this as with two of us in here, its not nice. Oh well, it is what it is."

A taste of life on board 'Red Arrow' along with university friend Tom Barnes. They are raising money for Ataxia UK. The pair’s regular blog can be read here.

While Rich was preparing for a year, Sam Langmead (2 North, 2002), in 'Heart of the Warrior' (HOTW), only got involved at six weeks’ notice after a rower dropped out. No news from his boat as yet but it is in the middle third of the pack.
