The OC Sports Club, which was opened in 1928, is home to the OC Rugby Club, operating three sides, the OC Hockey Club, with five men’s and a ladies team. Spectators are always welcome at home matches, details of which can be found in the Club’s fixture card, or telephone the Club.
Following an £850,000 refurbishment and expansion programme in the early 1990s, the Club is now a substantial business, while yet retaining the OC ethos. To contribute towards running costs, pitch and clubhouse facilities are let to non-OC users when not required for OC games, including Chelsea FC’s Academy and Kingston GS, and other local clubs and schools, all of which renew their contracts year on year – endorsing the view that this is one of the most attractive sporting venues in the area. A further £200,000 was invested in 2008 in a new pitch surface and improvements to the changing rooms and bar areas.
