Sun shines on OC Day

A day of mostly glorious sunshine helped make OC Day on July 3 special.   Combined again with Speech Day, it had a real buzz about it.

After drinks in the Quad, parents joined OCs at their service in Chapel, with the choir, new organ and brass adding superbly to the atmosphere.  Lunch was a choice of an excellent meal in Hall or a Hog Roast on Jubilee, where there was much to entertain families too – bouncy castles, activity tent, ice-creams, tea in the Jubilee Pavilion – and for older members a tour of the School and a beer tent.

A special gathering of those who left 10 and 20 years ago met in the pavilion for a bonus glass or two of sparkling wine.  Well done, the Years of 1991 and 2001!

Cricket:  The OCCC beat the School by seven runs in the annual Twenty20 match. The OCCC made 147 for 5, built around a 51-ball 60 from Seren Waters, and while the School were always there or thereabouts, they lost key wickets in the chase and were bowled out for 140 with a ball remaining.

Hockey:  The annual matches for the Loveland Bowl resulted in wins for the School against the men (7-4) and the ladies (5-1).
