Promotions for hockey and rugby clubs

Old Cranleighan RugbyAn excellent season for the two OC clubs based at Thames Ditton is concluding with success for both the OC hockey and rugby sections.

The OC Rugby Club are on the verge of a double promotion after finishing second in Surrey Division One after putting together a run of ten straight wins at the end of the season, including a memorable 23-18 defeat of champions Farnham.  They now face Hampshire runners-up Fordingbridge in a play-off on April 20 at TD.   Former OC Society chairman and OCRFC stalwart Nick Meyer is keen that the fact he sponsors Fordingbridge is not made known.

The OC Hockey Club 1st XI won Hampshire/Surrey Division One in style, securing promotion long before the end of a season where they finished with an unprecedented record of won 20 and drawn 2.  The success was made sweeter by the 2nd XI putting together a late run to clinch promotion as well.
