We would ask local residents to stay aware from the Weston Green Sports Club grounds following the fire on Thursday evening which destroyed the old clubhouse on the site.
While we understand people are naturally curious to see what has happened, we must stress that the area is currently unsafe. The fire brigade have highlighted that there are significant hazards including exposed debris, sharp materials, and potential risks from lingering smoke and fumes. This includes the grass pitches on the Weston Green site which may also have been affected by debris which may not be immediately apparent. For your safety, please do not enter or approach the property under any circumstances. Please in particular ensure that dogs and children do not go onto the affected area.
We will be making the area fully secure ahead of a complete clean up but due to the bank holiday weekend, full boarding and fencing cannot commence until Tuesday.
Our Club Manager Bevan Hoogewerf and his team are on site at the main club house and have been trying to advise people to stay away but we would really appreciate all help and support getting this message out.
The main OC Club and clubhouse remains open.
