Old Cranleighans Minis Train With Tonga National Rugby Union Squad

Tongan Rugby Team _19805As part of their build-up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the Tongan national squad has been based for a fortnight at Cranleigh School.  During their stay they have taken time out to train and entertain a variety of local schools and clubs, and that included a visit from the OCRFC mini section.

“The minis enjoyed a wonderful opportunity, training alongside the Tongans,” said OCRFC chairman Will Fawcett. “Fifty children, and their very excited parents braved the rain showers, as the youngsters were put through handling drills and some competitive ‘touch’ games by the Tongan stars. At the end, a fun Q&A session and the chance for the minis to grab autographs and treasured photo opportunities with the Tonga team.

“The OCs presented a pair of shirts to the Tongan players, and would like to thank the school for their invitation, and in particular the Tongan players for the generosity of spirit, the fun and the humour that they brought to a memorable day, one which all will cherish for years to come. The true spirit of Rugby, Go Tonga!”
