Charity ride for MND

Four Old Cranleighans along with one of their friends are intending to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in June to raise money for two charities, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

The four OCs – all Loveday leavers from 2007 – are Charlie Barker, Tom Crump, Adam Stonell and Nick Williams. In August last year Nick’s mother, Val, was diagnosed with MND, a cruel, rare disease that describes a group of diseases affecting the nerves in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. MND is life-shortening and has no cure.

They set up Velo for Val as an umbrella to raise funds to support the two charities that are close to Val’s heart. Both charities focus on funding research to providing a cure.

The intention is to complete this gruelling near-900 mile journey in nine days, their goal is to raise a significant sum for this amazing cause and to that end they are hoping to partner with sponsors to support their ride.

They hope, using contacts, to get national TV and digital coverage. They are connecting with many high-profile individuals on social media who will support their ride.

At the moment they are looking for two kit sponsors. Aside from logos on their jerseys, they will also provide sponsoring companies with photos and high-quality promotional videos.
